High Memory Consumption
Notifications are sent for devices running on low memory.
The computer memory, sometimes referred
to as Random Access Memory (RAM), temporarily stores your application
data for immediate use by the application only. This makes the device
memory very crucial to application performance. But since it is
used as a temporary storage only, when you shut down your device,
the RAM is cleared and the information stored information is erased.
Each application you have running on your device consumes a portion
of the RAM to store its data. So, the more applications you have
open, the more memory you consume. At some point, the memory consumption
hits a threshold after which your computer begins to slow down and
your application response time gets longer. The threshold for memory
utilization here is set to 95% of its capacity. When your device
reaches or crosses the 95% threshold, you receive the following
notification.
| Notification Text | What it means | Suggested remediation |
| Your device is running low on memory, which may cause applications to slow down
or crash. Consider closing unused applications or restarting your
device. | Your device is consuming total memory capacity more than the configured
threshold. This could happen when there are too many applications
running on your device or you have too many browser tabs
open. | Close the applications that you
are not currently using. If your browser has multiple tabs open, close the tabs that
you may not currently need. If you still see application performance issues, try restarting
your machine.

along with some suggestions to fix the issue.
The Usage Metrics link opens a time series historical chart displaying the
status of the memory usage during the last 3 hours. Move your mouse sideways on the
chart across various points in time, to understand the historical status of the active
area. Depending on where you mouse over and click in the chart, you can view the status
and recommendation that was indicated at that specific time within the 3-hour window.
