In many organizations, there is a challenge getting a message to all employees. The Admin Messages control provides a system for displaying messages on the Prisma Browser New Tab Page. Users open the messages from the admin messages button on the New Tab Page, and a badge on the button shows the number of unread messages.
For messages that users must not miss, select Push message. A pushed message opens the admin messages dialog automatically on the New Tab Page, instead of waiting for the user to open it.
  1. From Strata Cloud Manager, select ConfigurationPolicyControl SetsBrowser CustomizationNew Tab Page Control
  2. Select Admin Messages.
  3. Select one of the following options:
    • No admin messages - Do not display admin messages.
    • Set admin message- Click Add Admin Message and enter the following information:
      • Enter a Title for the message. The title is limited to 80 characters.
      • Enter the Message text. The message size is limited to 1000 characters.
      • Add link - Optionally, add a link that displays with the message. Enter a Link name (up to 15 characters) and a valid URL.
      • Push message - Optionally, turn on to open the admin messages dialog automatically on the New Tab Page when users receive this message. For more information, see Push Admin Messages.
      • Click Add.
  4. On the main page, click Set. The message will be displayed on the New Tab Page.

Push Admin Messages

When an administrator turns on Push message for a message, the Prisma Browser opens the admin messages dialog automatically on the New Tab Page. The browser receives the message on the next policy refresh, the same way it receives any other admin message.
The pushed message behaves as follows:
  • The admin messages dialog opens on the New Tab Page and remains open on every new tab until the user either opens all pushed messages or closes the dialog.
  • Clicking outside the dialog does not close it. The user must open the messages or close the dialog.
  • After the user closes the dialog, it does not open automatically again for the pushed messages it displayed. The messages remain available from the admin messages button, and the badge continues to count them as unread until the user opens them.
  • If the administrator pushes an additional message later, the dialog opens automatically again for the new message.
  • The browser stores the read and closed state locally on the device. If local browser data is cleared, or the user opens the Prisma Browser on a different device, the dialog opens again for every pushed message that is still in the policy.
Editing the title or message text of a pushed message creates a new message from the browser's perspective. Users who already read or closed the original message see the dialog open again. Turning Push message off and back on for an unchanged message does not reopen the dialog for users who already closed it.
