Advanced Routing Engine

Enable the Advanced Routing Engine for an industry-standard configuration methodology.
PAN-OS 10.2 offers an advanced routing engine that uses an industry-standard configuration methodology to reduce your learning curve. It allows the creation of profile-based filtering lists and conditional route maps, all of which can be used across logical routers. These profiles provide finer granularity to filter routes for each dynamic routing protocol and improve route redistribution across multiple protocols.
The Advanced Routing Engine uses logical routers, rather than virtual routers, to participate in Layer 3 routing. You must enable advanced routing and configure at least one logical router to use the Advanced Routing Engine. Perform the additional tasks that suit your networking requirements.
  1. Enable advanced routing.
  2. Learn about logical routers.
  3. Configure a logical router and add interfaces to it.
  4. Create a static route.
  5. Configure BGP on an advanced routing engine.
  6. Create BGP routing profiles for authentication, timers, address families, dampening, route redistribution to BGP, and BGP filtering.
  7. Create filters for the advanced routing engine, such as access lists, prefix lists, AS Path access lists, community lists, and route maps.
  8. Configure OSPFv2 on an advanced routing engine.
  9. Create OSPFv2 routing profiles for timers, authentication, and route redistribution to OSPFv2.
  10. Configure OSPFv3 on an advanced routing engine.
  11. Create OSPFv3 routing profiles for timers, authentication, and route redistribution to OSPFv3.
  12. Configure RIPv2 on an advanced routing engine.
  13. Create RIPv2 routing profiles for timers, authentication, and route redistribution to RIPv2.
  14. Create BFD profiles
