Problems Activating Advanced URL Filtering
If you are having activation troubles, use these CLI commands to verify that you have an active and valid Advanced URL Filtering license.
Where can I use this?
What do I need?
NGFW (Managed by PAN-OS or Panorama)
Advanced URL Filtering license
(or a legacy URL filtering license)
Note:
Legacy URL filtering licenses are discontinued, but active legacy licenses are still supported.
Use the following workflow to troubleshoot Advanced URL Filtering activation issues.
Access the PAN-OS CLI
.
Verify whether Advanced URL Filtering has been activated by running the following command:
show system setting url-database
If the response is
paloaltonetworks
, PAN-DB, the Palo Alto Networks URL filtering database, is the active vendor.
Verify that the firewall has a valid Advanced URL Filtering license.
Run the
request license info
CLI command.
You should see the license entry
Feature: Advanced URL Filtering
. If the license is not installed, you will need to obtain and install a license. See
Configure URL Filtering
.
Check the
PAN-DB cloud connection status
.
